Who is Bernard Buffet?
Bernard Buffet was born on 10 July, 1928 in Paris. He is a well-known painter, draughtsman and lithographer. Since 1943, Bernard Buffet attended drawing classes every evening and in 1944, he succeeded in entering the École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts in Paris. He might have exhibited a self-portrait at the Salon des Moins de trente ans in 1946. After that, in 1948, he displayed "L'homme accoudé" at the Salon des Indépendants. In 1948, Bernard Buffet signed a pact of attribution with Emmanuel David, which was later shared with Maurice Garnier. Throughout his life, in his exhibitions, he always won numerous prizes. He was elected to the Académie des Beaux-arts in 1974 and was decorated with the Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres in 1993. Unfortunately, after all this, he suffered from Parkinson's disease and could no longer paint. Bernard de Buffet died on 4 October 1999 in Tourtour.
